Monarch Population Decline

Monarch populations have declined by 80% and are likely to continue to decline unless habitat restoration, especially planting milkweed, takes place. Learn more here and be sure to check out available milkweed species on my Plants page.

Rusty Patched Bumble Bee listed as endangered

In March of 2017, Bombus affinis, the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee was listed as an endangered species. Its historic range included Southern Ohio, but no recent sitings have been recorded. Check out the USFWS and my blog post on building a bumble bee nest to see what you can do to help the recovery of this species.
